Chiropractic designed to keep nervous system healthy
Question: My husband's chiropractor says that chiropractic can help other things besides back pain. I hope he is not trying to make him come in for more treatments than he needs. Is it true that it can help more than back pain?
Answer: Absolutely, chiropractic is the science, art and philosophy of maintaining a healthy and free-flowing nervous system.
Since every function carried out in the human body is channeled through the nervous system, it is vital that this pathway be kept free and clear of nerve interference.
Back pain has become the most popular reason for chiropractic office visits only because we Americans, as a society, are obsessed with relief of symptoms instead of actually maintaining optimum health.
It just so happens that chiropractic can provide great relief for back pain, but the profession was always - and will always - be about prevention, not symptom relief. A nervous system that is not functioning properly can lead to a host of problems, including:
Headaches
Stress
Fatigue
Muscle pain
Sciatica
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Back pain
Neck pain
Digestive problems
Bowel and bladder dysfunction
Asthma
Shoulder pain
Numbness
Tingling
Jaw pain
Arm pain
Dizziness
Ringing in ears
Foot pain
A nervous system that functions properly may free you of the above disorders; since chiropractic attempts to keep the nervous system healthy, I suppose it can help much more than just back pain.
